Hammersmith & Fulham Council switch to an alternative, affordable, more sustainable solution for flood protection

SITUATION
Since the major floods of 2013/14, many Local Authorities have been forced to change tack as not only were the floods near impossible to anticipate, but the supply and deployment of sandbags was problematic.
IMPLEMENTATION
London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham (LBHF) Council made the decision to use alternatives to sandbags, in order to provide residents with a new innovative flood protection solution, and also to protect their own critical infrastructure.
RESULTS
LBHF Council procured up to 1,000 HydroSack®s & HydroSnake®s which were distributed throughout the council area to allow for quick and easy deployment in the event of a flood.
